Antenna Design Engineer

Antenna Design Engineer

About Panura: Panura is pioneering a new era in telecommunications, deploying a LEO mega-constellation to establish a Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) that delivers secure, high-speed, and sovereign digital connectivity worldwide. In a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, we’re strategically positioned in Munich – Europe’s aerospace hub – to lead the charge in securing future communication infrastructure. Our experienced founding team combines decades of aerospace and telecom expertise, and we’re now seeking ambitious pioneers ready to tackle challenging engineering problems and make an outsized impact on building resilient global connectivity.

Job Title: Antenna Design Engineer

About the Role: We are looking for an innovative Antenna Design Engineer to join our team, focusing on the development of advanced antenna solutions critical for our LEO mega-constellation. This role requires a deep understanding of electromagnetics and antenna theory, with a passion for designing lightweight, high-performance antennas capable of operating in demanding space environments, including those for intersatellite links and user communication. The successful candidate will be responsible for the entire antenna design lifecycle, from conceptualization and simulation to testing and optimization for a Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN).

Location & Eligibility: This role requires you to be based in Munich. Applicants must also be authorized to work in Germany (e.g., an EU citizen or holding a valid work visa).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, simulate, and test advanced antenna concepts, with a focus on foldable and lightweight solutions for satellite applications, including intersatellite link (ISL) antennas.
  • Apply deep knowledge of antenna theory, electromagnetics, and array theory to develop innovative antenna designs for a mega-constellation.
  • Develop antennas for wideband and multi-frequency applications, ensuring optimal performance metrics (gain, efficiency, beamwidth, polarization) for high-speed connectivity.
  • Lead the design of phased arrays, beamforming networks, and steerable antenna concepts essential for dynamic LEO communication.
  • Conduct rigorous data analysis of antenna measurements and simulations to validate performance in challenging space environments.
  • Collaborate closely with RF, mechanical, and systems engineering teams to ensure seamless integration and optimal system performance within the NTN.
  • Address complex antenna requirements with creative problem-solving and innovative design approaches for robust global connectivity.
  • Contribute to the company’s patent portfolio through novel antenna design concepts for space applications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in RF Electronics Engineering.
  • 3-7 years of professional experience in antenna design, simulation, and test.
  • Proven experience with antenna design for space applications, ideally including intersatellite links.
  • Deep knowledge of antenna theory, electromagnetics, and array theory.
  • Proficiency in designing for wideband and multi-frequency applications.
  • Strong understanding of antenna performance metrics (gain, efficiency, beamwidth, polarization).
  • Demonstrated ability for creative problem-solving in complex antenna requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Electromagnetics or Antennas.
  • Experience with large aperture or deployable antennas.
  • Proficiency in phased array design, beamforming, and steerable antenna concepts.
  • A strong patent portfolio in antenna design.
