Satellite System Architect

Satellite System Architect

About Panura: Panura is pioneering a new era in telecommunications, deploying a LEO mega-constellation to establish a Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) that delivers secure, high-speed, and sovereign digital connectivity worldwide. In a rapidly evolving geopolitical landscape, we’re strategically positioned in Munich – Europe’s aerospace hub – to lead the charge in securing future communication infrastructure. Our experienced founding team combines decades of aerospace and telecom expertise, and we’re now seeking ambitious pioneers ready to tackle challenging engineering problems and make an outsized impact on building resilient global connectivity.

Job Title: Satellite System Architect

About the Role: We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Satellite System Architect to lead the conceptualization, design, and development of advanced satellite systems and constellations for our LEO mega-constellation. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of aerospace systems, meticulous attention to detail, and a proven track record in translating complex requirements into robust and innovative satellite architectures, critical for enabling secure, high-speed connectivity. This role involves driving the technical vision from initial concept to system design, ensuring all aspects of the satellite’s lifecycle are considered for optimal performance in the space environment.

Location & Eligibility: This role requires you to be based in Munich. Applicants must also be authorized to work in Germany (e.g., an EU citizen or holding a valid work visa).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the architecture development and system design for cutting-edge satellite platforms within a LEO mega-constellation context.
  • Apply advanced Systems Engineering principles to define, analyze, and allocate system requirements, with a focus on constellation-level performance.
  • Conduct comparative evaluations of various architectures, concepts, and system designs to select optimal solutions for global connectivity.
  • Analyze and account for orbital mechanics, structural mechanics, thermal dynamics, and space environment effects in system design.
  • Oversee materials selection for space applications and ensure robust satellite integration planning.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation with excellent aerospace practices.
  • Drive innovation and identify opportunities for creating patentable intellectual property relevant to satellite systems and constellations.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including those focused on intersatellite links, to ensure seamless system development and integration.
  • Provide technical leadership and strategic insight into requirements and applications for Non-Terrestrial Networks (NTN).

Required Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 3-7 years of professional experience in satellite architecture development or system design, ideally within a constellation context.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Systems Engineering principles and architecture development for satellites.
  • Strong grasp of satellite architectures, design concepts, and the space environment.
  • Proven experience with requirements elicitation, system definition, and trade-off analysis.
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills for complex, multi-disciplinary systems.
  • Meticulous attention to detail in all aspects of design and documentation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Experience with satellite constellation design and optimization.
  • Practical experience in creating patentable IP.
  • Knowledge of advanced materials selection for space applications.
